“The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness
does not overcome it.”
JOHN 1:5 ESV
It’s getting dark. People are stumbling blindly. Homeless. Jobless. Hopeless. All they see is darkness. Those of us who follow Jesus Christ have found a light in the darkness. The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world (John 1:9). In the light of God’s truth: our shadowy fears are driven away; our darkest secrets are brought to light; and we are shown a guiding light for our life. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105). What a delight to bask in the light, like a housecat in a sunny kitchen window. How hard it is to walk in the light. Day after day. Forgiving those we feel should not be forgiven. Loving those who do not love us in return. This is the light that shone through Jesus Christ when He walked an earth that did not accept him, even though His heart was poured out in love. It is this light that we carry with us each day we walk after Him. This is what the world needs now. Let your little light shine.
